Purpose:
To call a strong, dedicated leader (full time) who, with a passion for seeing students become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ, will help students develop Christ-centered relationships in focus with the congregation’s vision and mission.

Description:
Bethel Lutheran Church is a mid-sized, growing congregation that embraces its vision of being  “a community maturing in faith and building passion for Christ.”  Winchester, Virginia is a mid-sized city in the Shenandoah Valley, 1.5 hours from Washington, D.C.

Expectations: We are looking for someone who:

  • Loves the Lord, can express faith well, and is a good model for sharing the faith
  • Loves to teach
  • Understands ministry as a team
  • Is eager to develop Christ-centered relationships with and among students
  • Understands that worship and praise is a vital component of youth ministry
  • Is eager to be fully integrated in the life of the congregation
  • Music ability is a plus      

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate student ministry for middle school and high school youth, and maintain intentional relationship with post-high school students.
  • Provide organization and oversight to all student ministry programs, including confirmation ministry, global mission opportunities, and small group ministry.
  • Help to create a student ministry that embraces the Marks of Discipleship: pray, worship, read the Bible, serve, connect, give
  • Work to build purposeful relationships between students, their families, church, and community
  • Form a core group of adults to serve as mentors and provide oversight and leadership for student ministry programs
  • The Director of Student Ministry reports to the Pastor and Youth Ministry Team

Experience: One to two years relevant work experience

Education: College graduate; relevant coursework in youth ministry preferred

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience; full benefits included
